Residents of Monkton voiced their concerns on the construction of a Vermont Gas pipeline that would pass through their town.
A proposed Addison Natural Gas Project includes 43 miles of 12-inch pipeline; the goal is to extend the supply of gas to International Paper in Ticonderoga, N.Y., and eventually to cities such as Rutland and Middlebury. Many residents are concerned that the pipeline will only benefit these businesses, and negatively affect their properties.
Last week, Vermont Gas Systems sent proposed revisions to the pipeline’s route outlined in its application for a Certificate of Public Good with the Vermont Public Service Board.
